Farmaillo Part 3

 

A lot of Progress has been made since my last update, and I unfortunately didn't get in as many screenshots before the artists came in on this level and did the lighting/skybox/environmental feel. Need to readjust the paths since this, but I can still point out what's been added.

Changed intent for player to have free reign to explore each fort, to making them more ordered with a "linear" path. So now Farmadillo is split into 2 halves by the river. The first half contains the tutorial area and fort, the 2nd fort, and 2 main puzzle areas. In the first tutorial area on the left, we decided the bowl didn't fit well with the desire to create a framing moment. So instead we raised the land to make a big ramp to create this moment.

Adjusted tutorial area some as well. Firstly closed it off with Fencing to make it a safer area for the player, and also added an opening in the fencing to reach the 2nd spot in the tutorial area.

Also adjusted the bumpers in the 2nd area in the tutorial, and separated it into 2 spots of trying out the bumpers as a fun spot, and actively using one to go up a ramp.
Added first fort to end the tutorial on the left (made by Tempe). Worked on some platforming puzzles in 2nd puzzle area, but are still experimenting with fast vs slow-paced ones. Also added road block in the middle of the road to force player to go through the puzzle area, with the ability to break down the roadblock from behind.

Also added plateau to create some verticality and make the map not as flat. This will be where the player can transfer to the latter half of the level after acquiring the spring( prize for defeating the 2nd fort). Once on the other side, the player can lower the drawbridge's to allow for easier traversal.
Worked on 2nd puzzle area, and added bumper field to capture more of the pinball feel. 
Have created similar challenges to the 1st area, but with slightly increasing difficulty in this one
Working on 2nd half, but is definitely more of a work in progress right now.
